The PSA Budapest Open 2026 kicked off in Budapest on 24 August. The five-day PSA World Tour event features 24 players competing for a total prize fund of USD 43,000, with three Hungarians in the draw: Balázs Farkas, Benedek Takács and Dániel Simon.
The opening day brought two Hungarian victories, both in thrilling five-game matches.
Benedek Takács produced an excellent performance to defeat the World No. 60 in five games (11–8, 8–11, 11–8, 7–11, 12–10). He will face top seed and World No. 18 Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia in the last 16 on Tuesday at 13:30.
Balázs Farkas also came through a tough five-game battle (11–7, 10–12, 11–2, 3–11, 11–4) to reach the second round. He will take on second seed and World No. 36 Bernat Jaume of Spain at 18:15.
Although Dániel Simon lost his opening match 3–1 to France’s Maceo Levy, he gets another opportunity as a lucky loser following Ashab Irfan’s withdrawal. Simon will face Qatar’s World No. 67 Abdulla Al-Tamimi at 17:30.
Tuesday – Hungarian matches
- 13:30 – Benedek Takács vs Eain Yow Ng (MAS), WR 18
- 17:30 – Dániel Simon vs Abdulla Al-Tamimi (QAT), WR 67
- 18:15 – Balázs Farkas vs Bernat Jaume (ESP), WR 36
All three Hungarian players will therefore be in action in the last 16 on Tuesday.
