The four-day European Individual Squash Championships get underway in Budapest on 19 August. Hungary is hosting the event for the first time in 20 years, with 120 players from 27 countries competing for the European titles.
Both competition venues are ready for the start. The four-court City Squash Club is back in perfect condition following the fire on 7 August and is ready to welcome the players. The Millenáris Glass Hall (Building D) will host the glass show court – the first sporting event of this kind ever held at the venue.
The 120 players representing 27 countries arrive in Budapest today, together with the international referees and delegates of the European Squash Federation. Following training sessions today and tomorrow, the Opening Ceremony will take place at 11:00 on 19 August at the Millenáris Glass Hall.
After the Opening Ceremony, the action will begin across five courts, with matches running every day from 10:00 to 21:00 throughout the four-day Championships. The women’s and men’s finals will be played on Saturday afternoon.
Matches will also be broadcast live on ESF TV, with six-camera coverage and a video review system on the glass show court.
Admission is free on every day of the European Championships, including Saturday’s finals.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to City Squash Club and the Millenáris Glass Hall!
