PSA Budapest Open 2025 Day 2

The $32,000 PSA World Ranking Tournament began in Budapest on September 20.

On the second day of the tournament, we could see the eight main draw players play, as yesterday’s results formed the draw for 16. The biggest surprise came soon when 28-year-old South African Dewald van Niekerk (73rd seed) defeated 2nd seed Nick Wall (42nd seed) in three games.

The match between the Swiss Wilhelmi and the Spanish Perez ended in a five-set tie with the Swiss winning (11-6, 8-11, 13-15, 11-1, 11-4) and the match between the Japanese Tsukue and the Dutch Damming ended in a five-set tie with the former winning (11-9, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9), which is interesting for us because the Japanese player will now face Balázs Farkas in the quarter-finals on Monday.

Other players in the TOP 8:

Lobban ( vs Elshafei 11-4, 11-6, 11-6)

Parker ( vs Evans 11-4, 11-4, 11-8)

Farkas ( vs Mekhalfi 12-10, 6-11, 8-11, 12-10)

Rooney ( vs Levy 11-0, 11-9, 12-14, 11-8)

Soares ( vs Herbert 11-8, 9-11, 11-9, 11-7)
